Sisters Are Important
I know how important sisters can be...and brothers. I have both. But an article at MSNBC.com explained it rather well.
Love you, sis! And you too, little brother. LOL! Considering he's six-one, that's funny.

Summer Ends
Summer is almost over and I guess I need to get back into the swing of things. A few months ago, I had given myself permission not to blog every day. That was nice at first but believe it or not I miss it. The deadline and the press to think of something to post, even if it was a YouTube or pictures of sexy men.
So starting Monday I'll start posting every day until next summer. That should work. I need to get into writing something.
And I'm so ready to start working on a new book, but I have to finish re-editing my book that was requested by Harlequin. It wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't taken out the first three chapters. It's amazing how much information is given in the beginning of a book to set up the characters. Otherwise, people say to themselves, "What the heck is she talking about?" if you don't fill in those gaps.
I really need to get that book off to them soon. Like I said, then I can possibly start on something new. Though I've been working on and off on another paranormal and need about twenty thousand more words. It's a lot different from my other paranormals and it has been hard to write. Then again I wonder if the reason it has been hard to write is I have a feeling it will be another book that is never published. Yeah, yeah. I'm feeling sorry for myself and really need to quit that.
Look forward and move forward and let the sorrows and regrets fall to the wayside.

Romantic Suspense
Every once in a while, I'll read a romantic suspense novel that involves a serial killer. I don't care for them, but when a favorite author of mine writes one, I have to give it a try. Sometimes the author won't "go into the mind" of the killer...I prefer that...but when they do, I might read every other paragraph or might even skip the part completely. Once, I actually quit reading a book like that and gave it away. It just creeps me out.
I'm reading one now that's like that. It got me to thinking how there are several serial killers in the U.S. at any given time. So the guy you cut off in traffic could be the next Ted Bundy or Jeffery Dahmer. Gross. See. That's why I don't like reading them. Scary.
The things I'll read for friends. Geez!

Shirley Temple
Bet you haven't thought of that name in a long time...that is if you've ever heard of her. Funny to think there are people out in the world who don't know who she is.Week before last I picked up a DVD with several of her movies on it. The main movie is my favorite of hers. THE LITTLE PRINCESS. I remember the first time I watched it as a kid, I cried. Her character had found out her daddy was dead and everything was taken from her. Don't worry. It has a happy ending.
It's hard to believe the woman is older than my mom. She's such a part of my childhood. Though I'm too young to have seen her on the big screen, I did watch her often on TV reruns.

Keep It Simple
Someone at the conference said an editor told her to keep the story simple. That a simple story for a debut book was best. I can understand that. One of my drawbacks is just that. I love a complicated plot, usually with a surprise, logical twist at the end. But I believe that editor gave great advice and I'm going to try to keep it in mind as I write another book.
That will be a couple months away. For now, I'm editing a book I plan to email out to an editor Sunday.

A Good Quandary
I have a good quandary. During the conference, my appointment with the agent was cancelled as her flight was cancelled.
In this case, this was a good thing. As I had only one appointment left to attend and that was with an editor. And she asked for TWO FULLS. Let me explain. I met with the nice editor and gave her my pitch. She asked for the full of that one and then said, "I'm not sure if you've heard of Nocturne Bites..."
I said, "Yes, actually I have and I'm so glad you mentioned it. I sent in a short story to the email address on the website last December. I know I could've inquired on why I didn't received an answer by now, but I really didn't want to bother anyone about it. I guessed it had gotten lost." I have to say one of the best things about Harlequin, is that they will send you a rejection, even if it takes three years. Yes. I got one for a submission from that long ago.
She then said, "Please send that one to me too."
I was thrilled. It's a cute little female vampire story and it would tickle me to no end if they bought it. That would at the least get my toe in the door. LOL! I'll probably have a heart attack if they want the big manuscript too.
Okay, you're asking what about the quandary I mentioned in the my title? Well, during the time I was at Orlando I received two emails. One from an agent wanting to see more of the book I queried on. The other was from an editor rejecting a book, but asking for more. OH. MY. GOODNESS! Just too much joy. No, no, no. Never too much when it comes to my writing. Loving the joy here.
Oh, all of the above involves FOUR manuscripts!! Pray for me.
Can you imagine if I had to prepare another manuscript for the other agent if she hadn't cancelled? I would be pulling my hair out. Though I'll keep her in mind for later, if this other one doesn't like my book/writing.
Now back to work...

On The Road Again
Tomorrow evening I leave for Orlando. Two other ladies will be my traveling companions. We plan to stop along the way and get a few hours of rest before making the final leg to the conference Wednesday morning. I can't wait. I do enjoy the energy of two thousand writers. Yes. A two and three zeros.
