Lemonade Stand
When I was little, probably seven or eight, my sister and I made some lemonade and placed a table near our road and sold glasses for ten cents a glass. At the time, we had a gardener. The poor man bought two or three glasses and paid the money. Looking back now, I bet the fellow didn't make that much money and his twenty or thirty cents took a little chunk out he needed to keep. But he was willing to make two little girls happy by being our only customer.

Kisses Are Nice
I love it when an author writes a scene when the two characters kiss and it gives me chillbumps. Now that's a kiss. I'm the same way with movies. Give me a great kiss on screen and I'm happy with the whole movie. That can be the only romantic gesture and I'm okay with it. Here's a scene from one of my favorite movies. It's a picture of THE KISS. Can you name the movie?

Arguing
Have you ever met a person who loves to argue? I've found many men are like that. You can point at a stop sign and they will swear it's for considersation but not for certain. Geez!

Update Opinions
The other day I was listening to a newscast about protecting children on the internet. They said parents needed to become more internet savvy and quit being afraid of technology. The newscaster talked about parents as if they were talking about their own parents.
Think. The newscaster was probably in her thirties. Her parents are in their late fifties to early sixties. The children she's talking about are school age. Let's guess mostly six to fifteen. Those children's parents are in their thirties to forties.
Okay. I can promise you most of those parents are very internet savvy. They grew up with the internet. Most of those parents are on Facebook and Twitter and using their androids. Newscasters need to stop and think and update their information.

In Memory Of A Beautiful Woman
While growing up, I always admired Elizabeth Taylor. Sure she made some mistakes, but that only made her human and not just an untouchable star. She was known not only for her beautiful face, eyes and figure, but I believe she had one of the most famous (or infamous) trumultuous love affairs with Richard Burton. She had some kind of life for sure. Here's to you, Ms. Taylor! Remembering when...

I'm Baaack!
Whew! The last two weeks have been something and not good. It all started with a cough and a chill. Finally after two weeks and a doctor visit, I'm on the road to recovery. I hope. I've never been floored by such a cold in my life. I've even lost over ten pounds. That tells you how sick I've been. I rarely lose weight, but I couldn't eat. Food turned my stomach.
During that time, I didn't write. I couldn't concentrate. Even at work I had problems.
I took off work today and slept late and then read until about one. Enjoyed a long bath while I read some more. It was a beautiful day.
For the first time in a long time, I could take deep breaths without getting choked from coughing.
Maybe I can get back to my routine. I need to get more submissions out there.

Bad Juju?
Sorry I haven't been on my blog this week. Been sick, sick, sick. SICK! Feeling a little better today. Hard to let things bother you when the sky is so blue and the weather just perfect.
Then I received a rejection from an editor (see post below). Oh, well. I know I'm no Nora Roberts, but goodness you would think someone would like my writing and at least my whole book. I edit and edit and edit. I swear. So not just the first three chapters shine, though to be honest they probably glow.
The funny thing is everywhere I looked today I kept getting hit with the number 13. I released two shipments that were number 13s, added an item to a p/o that was line 13, and ...I can't remember what else, but there were plenty of them popping up. I took it as a sign that my grandmother in heaven was thinking of me. She said 13 was her lucky number.
I hope she wasn't trying to warn me about the rejection. Though I try not to, I allowed myself to count on this one.
Bad juju?

Good News
I received a wonderful email Friday. An editor wants to see my full manuscript after she read the first three chpaters. That's even better than pitching at a conference. Because this editor has seen my writing and knows what to expect and still wants to see the full. Finally. I did something right. Yeah!
So today after I visit my dad, I will read over the manuscript (well, as much as I can) and then send off. It's been worked on over and over again and should be okay. But I want to take one last look just in case.

Funny And Smart
I'm presently reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips's newest book, CALL ME IRRESISTIBLE. So good. So funny.
You know, the main theme I see in people who are so funny is that they are smart. Now I'm talking about people who can come back with truly funny remarks (not snide), write hilarious scenes, and see the world from a wacky angle.
Oh, I do wish I was that smart.

Raindrops On My Head
Rain, rain, go away. Come back another day.
Wow! We've had a lot of flooding. Crazy extreme weather, everywhere, in every season.

Is It Just Me?
Lately I've seen more and more of this lately. On http://www.charter.net/ yesterday, they have a video and the title reads, "Charlie Sheen waives machete on rooftop."
I'm not talking about Charlie's crazy antics, but the word "waives." LOL! It's WAVES, folks! That website isn't the only one that's terrible at using the wrong words.
[Updated 3/9/2011 8:20 a.m.: They corrected it!)

Come On Over
Yep! It's that time again. I'm blogging over at the Romance Magician's blog. Or is that posting over...who cares? You get the idea. Hope to see you over there.

Working and Waiting
Two things I'm good at: working and waiting. Good thing too, since being a writer, they appear to be required traits.
Presently, I have five different manuscripts (partials and fulls) with five different editors. One of them is with two different editors. No one can say I'm not trying.
That's part of the reason I've been skipping some days of posting.

Hot Topic
I received an email this afternoon from XM Radio. Believe it or not, but they're going to have a radio station dedicated only to Charlie Sheen's antics. Goodness. Enough already. The guy's lost it.

RT BookReviews
I got in my newest copy of RT BookReviews yesterday. When I first started getting this magazine, it actually looked more like a newspaper, black and white, large. Then they changed to a black and white magazine format and then eventually to the colored format they have now.
In the early nineties, I paid the registration fee to go to their Booklovers convention. My sister planned to go with me and then backed out. At that time I was too insecure to go by myself. So I canceled and got my money back. Needless to say but I will, I was disappointed.
Well, one of my buddies invited me to go this year. Boy, oh, boy, I wanted to go. But funds are tight. It's been over two years since I received a bonus. That was my mad money to do such things. I had to turn it down. Really hated that. Not counting, I would've really liked to hang with that certain buddy.
Plus this year, my family (two daughters, one SIL, grandson and hubby) are going to the beach and I'm paying for the three-bedroom condo. I remember how it was when my kids were young. We didn't have the money for much, no less nice vacations. My mom didn't have any extra money at all and my dad was doing his own thing. In other words, all my extra money (what there is) is going toward this vacation. I have to say the last two times we did this, it was wonderful and I hope it's repeated again.
Maybe next year I'll have some funds for conventions or conferences. Family first.
